Statutory maintenance payment for the support of an ex-partner or child after divorce. The amount depends on need and capacity to pay.
Maintenanceis the financial contribution that one ex-partner pays to the other or to a common child after a divorce or dissolution of a registered partnership. In the Netherlands, there are two main forms:
The Belastingdienst treats partner alimony fiscally as income for the recipient and as a tax deduction for the payer. Child alimony is tax-neutral.
