Guardianship of the estate

A protective measure whereby the management of a person's property is entrusted to a guardian.

Guardianship of the estate (protective guardianship) is a measure whereby the management of the property of an adult who is unable to do so themselves is entrusted to a guardian (Article 1:431 of the Dutch Civil Code). Unlike guardianship, the person retains legal capacity for non-financial acts. Guardianship is often ordered in cases of debt problems or intellectual impairment.

Due to debt problems, protective guardianship of the estate was established over her property.
