Divorce agreement
A written agreement between spouses about the consequences of the divorce.
A divorce agreement is a written contract in which spouses record how they will handle the consequences of their divorce. This includes arrangements regarding alimony, division of assets, the marital home, pension equalization and any debts. The agreement is typically drafted by the lawyer or mediator and submitted to the court as part of the divorce petition.
