Flash divorce

A quick divorce via conversion to registered partnership, no longer possible since 2009.

The flash divorce was a quick way to divorce without court intervention. The marriage was first converted into a registered partnership, which could then be terminated by an agreement at the civil registry. Since March 2009, this option has been abolished by the legislator because there were insufficient safeguards for the interests of children and the weaker party.

The flash divorce has been abolished since 2009 and can no longer be used.
