Authority-terminating measure
The most severe child protection measure permanently terminating parental authority.
The authority-terminating measure is the most severe child protection measure in Dutch law. The court can impose this measure if a child grows up in such a way that its development is seriously threatened, and the parent is unable to bear responsibility for care and upbringing within a period acceptable for the child. After termination of authority, a certified institution or guardian is charged with guardianship of the child.
“The Child Protection Board requested an authority-terminating measure after repeated failure of assistance.”
