Termination of parental authority

The court terminating parental authority when a child is seriously threatened in its development.

Termination of parental authority is the most far-reaching child protection measure. The court can terminate a parent's authority if a child grows up in such a way that its development is seriously threatened, and the parent is unable to bear responsibility for care and upbringing within an acceptable period. After termination of authority, a guardian is appointed.

After years of neglect, the parental authority of both parents was terminated.
