Gezamenlijk verzoek
Joint petition
A divorce petition filed jointly by both spouses.
In a joint divorce petition, both spouses agree on the divorce and its consequences. They submit a petition together to the court, through one or two lawyers. Usually a divorce agreement and (if there are children) a parenting plan are attached. The procedure is faster and cheaper than a unilateral petition because no defence is needed.
“They chose a joint petition because they had reached agreement on everything.”
