Court fees

The mandatory fee that must be paid to the court when starting proceedings.

Court fees are the financial contribution that parties must pay to the court for handling their case. In divorce proceedings, a fixed rate applies that is set annually. The court fee must be paid by the petitioning party (or both parties in a joint petition). A reduced rate may apply for persons with low income. Non-payment leads to inadmissibility of the petition.

The court fee for divorce proceedings amounts to several hundred euros.
