Jus comparison

A calculation to verify whether alimony leads to a skewed income difference after divorce.

The jus comparison (comparison of disposable income) is a verification calculation for spousal maintenance. It tests whether the determined alimony results in the person entitled to alimony having more disposable income than the person liable. If so, the alimony is adjusted downward to create a reasonable distribution of wealth. The jus comparison is a limitation, not an independent basis for alimony.

After the jus comparison, the spousal maintenance was reduced because she would otherwise retain more than he.
