Child maintenance

Financial contribution from parents towards the costs of care and upbringing of their children after separation.

Child maintenance is the financial contribution that parents owe for the livelihood of their minor children. After a divorce, the non-custodial parent must contribute to the costs of care and upbringing. The amount is calculated using the Trema report (Nibud standards), taking into account both parents' income and the child's needs. The obligation continues until the child turns 21.

Both parents are obliged to contribute to child maintenance until the child turns 21.
