Mentorship
A protective measure whereby a mentor makes decisions about care, treatment and support.
Mentorship is a protective measure for adults who are unable to make decisions about their care, treatment, guidance and support (Article 1:450 of the Dutch Civil Code). The mentor is appointed by the district judge and makes decisions on behalf of the person under protection. Mentorship concerns exclusively personal (non-financial) matters.
“For her demented mother, mentorship was established so that someone could make medical decisions.”
