Condemnation to pay legal costs

A court order whereby the losing party is ordered to pay the legal costs of the other party.

A condemnation to pay legal costs is a court judgment whereby the losing party is ordered to pay (part of) the legal costs of the other party. In family matters, legal costs are usually compensated (Article 289 of the Dutch Code of Civil Procedure), but the court may deviate from this in case of abuse of process.

The court condemned the man to pay legal costs due to his unreasonable conduct during the proceedings.
