high-conflict divorce
A divorce with a very high level of conflict, in which children often get caught in the middle.
A high-conflict divorce is a divorce in which the mutual conflict between ex-partners escalates to the point where reasonable consultation is no longer possible, often with the children caught in the middle. Judges and the Child Protection Board then intervene sooner to protect children's interests.
