Shared residence co-parenting

An arrangement where the child alternates living with both parents, usually in a 50/50 division.

In shared residence co-parenting, the child lives alternately with both parents, usually in an equal time division. This requires good communication and cooperation between the parents, proximity of homes and schools, and a stable pattern for the child. The court weighs the interests of the child (Article 1:253a of the Dutch Civil Code).

The parents agreed to shared residence: the children lived alternately with each parent on a weekly basis.
