9 termsWaiting period for divorce
The period of six months after the judgment within which the divorce must be registered in the civil register.
Duration of maintenance
The statutory maximum duration of the obligation to pay spousal maintenance.
Family guardian
A child protection specialist who supervises a family under care supervision.
Foster care
Placement of a child with a foster family when the child cannot live at home.
Mentorship
A protective measure whereby a mentor makes decisions about care, treatment and support.

Visitation arrangement
The arrangement that determines when and how often the child stays with the non-custodial parent.
Ondertoezichtstelling (OTS)
Supervision order
A child protection measure where a family guardian is appointed to support the family.

Parental authority
The set of rights and duties of parents with respect to their minor children.
Ouderschapsplan
Parenting plan
A mandatory document in divorce with minor children, containing agreements on care and upbringing.
